It is important to be really clear that you really do want to give up smoking. If you are doing it only to please others and not yourself, you will not be successful.
If you are half-hearted, you will get half-hearted results.
By examining the emotional triggers that stimulate the need to smoke cigarettes, and/or marijuana, you will find that you can change the programming that has driven you. You will then be able to install new and powerful behaviours that will empower you and make it easy to deal with stresses that inevitably occur in daily life. This has a positive flow-on effect in all areas of your life.
The first session needs to be a two hour session. It is important to discover the emotional drivers and connections to habits that have been established. Also to examine the beliefs associated with cigarette smoking. For example, many people link smoking cigarettes to having a cup of coffee. Others may find that they have links to drinking alcohol with cigarettes. Many people link binge drinking with cigarettes in their social scene. By discovering the history connected to cigarette smoking, it is then important to work out a program individually tailored to suit that person. Many people find that they also can change their drinking habits at the same time, resulting in being in control of their lives.
Some people smoke to control their weight so they fear that if they give up smoking they will put on weight. If the emotional issues connected to eating are addressed at the same time as the smoking habit, weight will not be an issue at all. One of my clients revealed to me that she feared putting on weight. By addressing this fear and programming that she would keep slim, she was able to give up smoking before the next session easily, so we then were able to deepen the process to ensure complete success.
A process is always installed at that session and a support program put in place, which the individual then practices. A good analogy would be: If you dig deep foundations prior to building a house, you will have a strong foundation to build a house which will not fall down when weather conditions test it. If your foundations are weak, then the house will fall down. Some people only need two hours; others may need another hour or more, depending on what issues are to be addressed.
